Evaluation
For my AS Media Studies coursework I had been given a brief for my main task which was to create a two minute introduction to a film of my own choice and it had to include titles. Firstly I wanted to gain insight information into the many different genres. From my research I found that social realism is a genre that many British independent film makers use to create their films. Social Realism is a genre of film that portrays closeness to real life, and expressing an authentic ideological view of the world. During my research I found that a few people had an understanding of what social realism was. However, those people who had some understanding used some popular social realism films to express their knowledge these films included This is England, Half Nelson and Last Resort. As these films were the most popular amongst the people questioned, I decided that I would gain a better understanding of a social realism film if I explored deeply the opening of these films.
A Social Realism is a genre which doesn’t need to have a high budget like Hollywood or Bollywood films have. Instead the low budget of this genre influenced my decision to create my film around it. One other aspect was that because I am a student and I do not have a great deal of expenditure available, so using the sources around me allowed me to produce my film and keeping naturalistic as possible.
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? I have used Prezi.com to explain this.
How does your media product represent particular social groups? I have created a prezi to answer this question.
What kind of Media institution might distribute your media product and why? I created a powerpoint presentation and added to slideshare.net to explore this question.
Who would be the audience for your media product? and How did you attract/address your audience? I have used powerpoint, slideshare.net and youtube to create this.
What have you learnt about the technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I have created a video and have uploaded it to viemo.
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progession from it to the full product? I Have created a video to explain this.Which I added to Youtube to get the embedded link.
